An Inconvenient Courtship (Audible Audio Edition) Dana R Lynn Amy Soakes Clean Reads Books
This was a quick, clean, novella that you can read in one sitting. It moved at a rapid clip so hang on and expect scenes to start and finish nearly in the same paragraph. We open our story as Jane and Lizzy are about to leave Netherfield. Jane has recovered from her illness and as Lizzy was getting into the carriage, Miss Bingley poked the horse with her parasol. Why she even had it was a mystery, because they had just stepped out of the house to bid farewell to their guests. The horse panicked, jolting the carriage just as Lizzy had stepped up to enter. She was thrown to the ground and knocked unconscious. Everyone saw Miss Bingley do it, so she had no excuse.“My love to thee is sound, sans crack or flaw.” William Shakespeare
Everything happens quickly and suddenly Darcy realizes that he could lose Miss Elizabeth. He carries her into the house, the local doctor is sent for as well as Mr. Bennet. Things really hit the fan when the doctor declares he wants to bleed Miss Elizabeth. Mr. Bennet and Darcy both respond in the negative. Darcy sends for our dear Colonel and his military doctor friend who specializes in head injuries. Our dear Colonel decides to bring Georgiana with them and they quickly travel to Hertfordshire.
“Love is like lightening; it can strike anyone, anywhere, and at any time.” Matshona Dhliwayo
We have several gentlemen in this story that were struck by lightning… immediately and without any reservations. That was strange, but that was the universe created by our author. Our dear Colonel and the good doctor were impressed with several of the sisters that were present. You just never know when Cupid’s arrows will find a willing target.
The last bit was not plausible… however, it was nice to see it happen. Wickham was a rat-bastard and caused a bit of trouble. That business with Mrs. Bennet was so OOC, I’ve never seen her do that or act in that manner… or Darcy, for that matter. But it was fun reading it even if I doubt it would really happen.
There were editing problems all over the place… periods replaced commas. Spelling, I mean… Pemberly… is a grave mistake.

An Inconvenient Courtship (Audible Audio Edition) Dana R Lynn Amy Soakes Clean Reads Books Reviews
There are a number of higher rated reviews on Goodreads. The other reviews do give us more details. While leaving Netherfield after Jane's illness, Elizabeth suffers an accident due to Caroline's striking a horse with her parasol out of frustration with Darcy's paying attention to "Eliza" rather than herself. The largest part of this story then involves the longer stay at Netherfield and the interaction of its residents, its guests and visitors, including Colonel Fitzwilliam and Georgiana and a doctor from London.
While I thought this story's main premise had promise it never lived up to my expectations. I truly thought it needed to be more developed...everything happened in fairly quick succession without much pause or anticipation.
For instance, we have Elizabeth with a head injury but three days of bed rest finds her spending time downstairs. I would have expected more time and concern to be spaced out over pages for such a serious injury.
Then there is the matter of Caroline's responsibility for the injury. Elizabeth's response to Bingley's decision to send Caroline off to live with a relative was more the type of response I would have expected from Jane. Although I believe the author's Christian beliefs were being brought into play it was just out of character at this point for Elizabeth, IMHO.
The author manages to write romance for more than just Jane and Elizabeth and the one pairing was not to my liking nor was it explained with any satisfaction. My love of the man makes me want higher standards in his selection of a mate! Then there is the handling of our perennial bad guy. He was able to run off and threaten two ladies without details as to how he knew where the one he was targeting even was at the moment...he just happens to gallop up and knows that they are walking in the garden???? And he expects that there is not a man servant nor a gardener nor stable hands nor even Bingley who will hear him galloping up and approaching Georgiana and Elizabeth.
So the story has some nice elements but I could see better filling in the circumstances and events leading up to the various points of drama.
Another adaptation of the classic story that is actually quite good. Lizzie is injured when leaving Netherfield by a terrible act on Caroline Bingley 's part. She sustains a head injury and Darcy gets Richard to bring a military surgeon who has experience with this to treat her. Mr Bennett comes to stay with his two daughters. Darcy and Bingley realize how much they " esteem" these two women and decided to court them.
Best scene in this story is Mrs Bennett and her other daughters along with Mr Collins come. Collins, being the pompous windbag starts to declare for Jane but is stopped by Bingley. He then declared for Lizzie before saying a single word to her. Declaring that their marriage would elevate the family due to his patroness. Of course Darcy takes offense. Seeing Collins being put down by Darcy and Mr Bennett is great but him being tossed out of both Netherfield and Longbourne is epic!
Its great that we miss Lydia and Wickham and that mess although he does show up to create havoc several times.
Good story and enjoyable.
